Dresses that Tick All the Boxes in Dior's Little Fashion Dictionary

Posted by Claire Erickson on

Every so often, there will be a book published that is so iconic to the fashion industry it instantly becomes a classic. Think Devil Wears Prada, The Gospel According to Coco Chanel, or The Little Dictionary of Fashion by Christian Dior himself. Arguably the most famous designer for introducing the New Look after World War II-- a feminine, gorgeous silhouette bringing back the feeling of being a woman in the 1940s, why wouldn't we trust what he defines in fashion?

Luckily, we have some dresses that hit major marks with what Dior said, and believe me, if you walked past him in the street today in one of our dresses below, you would be his next inspiration.

1. Casual Floral Dress

Florals-- according to Dior, florals are the loveliest thing on the planet, second only to the woman. Flower prints are great, because they can be used on anything from day dresses to cocktail dresses and even evening gowns.

This dress can be paired with some dainty gold rings and a simple pair of sandals. Remember, we want to look as delicate as a flower!

COLORS: Black, Dark Blue, Green

2. Flirty Sleeve Dress

White is not only the color of purity, Dior says white is the most beautiful color to wear in the evening. And what is perfect about this dress is its cut is suitable for any dinner you may need to attend or party you need to drop by quickly after hours. Even better yet, with white, it matches with anything!

Keep the look delicate by adding only neutral accessories, or be bold by adding a vibrant color with full glam!

COLORS: Yellow, White, Red, Green

3. Sexy Speaker Dress

Dior always loved a good sleeve, and a sleeve in pink is even better. This sleeve, a mixture between bell and flounce, is fun and flirty while the color pink is youthful. Dior says pink is the color that every woman should have in her wardrobe, because of how sweet it is.

So as not to distract from the construction of the garment, we suggest adding a simple pair of stilettos, a minimally decorated clutch, and some statement earrings.

COLORS: Pink, Navy Blue

4. Waist Tie Dress

The waist is one of the features that truly defines a woman, and Dior thought so too. The waist is the key to perfect proportion play on a woman. Not only this, but the color black also is slimming, as well as being the (arguably) most elegant of all colors.

For this dress, we recommend a pair of over the knee, black suede boots to give this outfit a little sass!

COLORS: Black, Green, Purple
