5 Cute Mid-Thigh Dresses For Work And Events

Posted by Claire Erickson on

If you're like me, you feel as though you need a new dress for every single event. Every-time you wear a certain dress, it sticks in your mind as appropriate for the sort of occasion you last went to wearing it and nothing else.

If this is the case for you, I bet you're wondering how to fix it. Well, the solution is carefully crafting your wardrobe with a minimal amount of dresses that you can style differently, so it doesn't look like you're wearing the same ensemble over-and-over again.

Below, we have selected some dresses to help you start your journey towards a more stylish, streamlined wardrobe:

1. Off the Job Dress

If you are looking to go to a more upscale event such as a charity gala or formal client dinner, we suggest this Off the Job Dress. Typically, longer dresses are considered to be more elegant, so this dress is the perfect illusion. Though the dress is considered mid-thigh, the asymmetrical, high-low skirt tricks the eye into thinking the dress is actually tea-length.

For a client dinner, wear a plain white blazer. For that charity gala, a clutch and your best pair of heels should do the trick.

COLORS: Green, Black

2. Waist Tie Dress

This dress is great for work. It is a light fabric, but has long sleeves, so it is practical in the chilly office air. Also, the color is wearable in any season, and the fabric is extremely soft, so you can be comfortable all day!

Why not try tying the straps into a bow one day and doing a cross over the front of the dress the next day? Test it out, and let us know what you think!

COLORS: Black, Green, Purple

3. Floral Lined Dress

You might be wondering how this brightly-colored, patterned dress can be styled different ways. It is possible! You can wear the dress as is during the spring and summer months, or you can throw a beige cardigan over the top to cover the flowers, and show the icy blue for the colder months.

Experiment with different beauty looks for this Floral Lined Dress. Style your hair in a French twist, or a high-curled pony. Maybe try a sparkly eyeshadow or a neutral makeup look.

4. Jeans on Fridays Dress

If you are looking to attend a more casual work event, I always like a denim dress. It is not as casual as wearing jeans, but is just as comfortable. I would recommend wearing this dress if you're going to have drinks with coworkers, or attending an office field day.

You can cinch this dress with a light brown belt, or wear regularly as a shift dress. Either style changes the outfit enough to be worn time and time again!

5. Little Black Lace Dress

If you are on the fence about what dress is fitting to wear to a certain event, our Little Black Lace Dress is your best choice. It is the perfect mix of classy and casual. The lace is delicate, while the length of the dress is more fun.

Personally, I wouldn't follow the styling in the photo above. Possibly try an over-the-shoulder quilted bag and a blow out at Dry Bar.
