How to Style a Red Dress for All Day Wear

Posted by Claire Erickson on

Besides the LBD, an LRD (little red dress) will be your new favorite look for day and night. While neutrals like black and white will always be staples in our wardrobe, the color red will always be a bold contrast.

Gorgeautiful says, "depending on the shade and silhouette, whether you’re looking for casual daywear or elegant evening wear, if worn well, a little red dress can create a look that seems both classic and seductive, and soon will become your new favorite style." Here are some ways to style some of our own red dresses!

1. Wine and Dine Dress

If you are the type of woman who walks to work in the morning, believe me when I say, one of the cutest and most practical things you can do is wear a white pair of sneakers with your dress to work. This look is ideal for being just a little off the beaten path-- stand out while still being trendy.

For when you are out getting drinks with friends, a classier way to style this dress is with a headband. A headband from specialty shops like DesignByHummingbird from Etsy adds a unique accessory to your collection, plus they almost look like tiaras! Who wouldn't want that?

2. Sexy Ruffles Dress

Going to brunch? This is the dress for you. It is totally Instagram ready. Just make sure you have your mimosa in your hand! Who What Wear recommends wearing gold jewelry-- "bangles, trinket necklaces, hoops, statement earrings, chokers—you name it" with this look, because gold "always looks good set against bright red." Finish off the look with a pair of nude heels!

If you are looking to wear this dress in the evening, one of the most elegant ways you can style this dress is by draping a beige trench coat over your shoulders. Trust me, people will be envious of your look no matter what high-end party you attend.

3. Highs and Lows Dress

I love this dress for the morning. Why? Because the fabric is soft and stretchy due to its mixed polyester-spandex composition. When you are lounging around in the morning having your coffee, a pair of fuzzy socks will make you look cute and keep you comfortable.

If you want to continue to wear this dress in the afternoon for running errands or grabbing lunch, then the chic thing to do is throw on a pair of jeans underneath! I know, it sounds strange at first, but try it out and you'll realize how cute it actually looks.

For the evening, try belting the dress to accentuate your waist, and add a pair of strappy sandals. These shoes, along with the leg slit, will make your legs look a mile long!
